Beverly Hills defeat Duncan Street 6-0 in opener Tournament Fixtures
The Football 7 Association of Trinidad and Tobago and Miscellaneous is pleased to announce a partnership with the Inter-Agency Task Force for its 2016 Football tournament which was launched on Saturday July 16th, 2016 at the St Paul Street Multi-Purpose Complex in Port of Spain.
The tournament, titled the “Hearts and Minds” Football Tournament is geared towards providing long term benefits in the social development of young people and immediate, positive outcomes. Gang activities have decreased and barriers have been broken down.
This initiative was established to help curb the high level of crime within the various communities and to assist the young people cope with life’s challenges and to channel their energies into a positive and healthy lifestyle. Our intention is to enhance the abilities within our youths in the areas of sports and physical activities, and to remove borderlines within our area of operation.

By wearing a uniform, young people will feel a sense of equality, regardless of their diverse background. Sports and physical activities can give youths a sense of belonging, loyalty and support, which may cause the thoughts of suicide, truancy and the use of illicit drugs not to be an option.
The tournament will run under the auspices of the Football 7 Association. Miscellaneous will offer support through uniforms for all teams, footballs, matchday officials including qualified referees, equipment, Prizes and other match-day support.
Member for Laventille West, Minister of Works and Transport Fitzgerald Hinds attended the launch and endorsed the tournament, commending Miscellaneous for supporting it. The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs Joan Mendez also attended and took part in the official kickoff to open the competition.
Laventille United defeated Beverly Hills 2-0 in an opening exhibition encounter on Saturday. The first day of matches takes place on Tuesday from 3:45 pm at the St Paul Street Recreation Ground with Duncan Street facing Laventille Youths.
The Football 7 Association will also be partnering with Wi Sports for the staging of a City 7s tournament to be staged in Port of Spain over the upcoming weeks and more details on this exciting venture will be revealed in due course. Gasparillo, we are also coming your way in the next few weeks for another pulsating community tournament.
In past tournaments, several current and former national players have participated in our tournaments including Stern John, Gary Glasgow, Curtis Gonzales who was part of the T&T Senior Team during its recent matches against Uruguay and Peru, former T&T Under 20 striker Juma Clarence and T&T national futsal team goalkeeper Kevin Graham. The T&T Football 7s Association is affiliated with the US Soccer 7 Association which has put on several tournaments in Miami over the past two years.
